Is it me, or have all the local officials in the New Orleans metro area gone absolutely insane? Aaron Broussard, the President of Jefferson Parish has fallen in love with his image on the TV. Even after he was caught embellishing a story about one of his employee's loss in a weepy nationwide performance, I still see him on the TV more than I ever would want and is always talking about the cameras that are on him during the interview. Its a little weird. Its like he's saying "Look at me I'm on TV!", even though he's an elected official and should be used to a little attention. And Nagin, who I appreciate for his efforts after the storm, has shrunk to supporting a "Gambling Zone" in New Orleans on Canal Street. Forget that Harrah's already has a contract which guarantees that they be the only land-based casino in the city, but gambling? That's the way to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off? To go bet whatever little money individuals have on Black Jack or Roulette? What's wrong with these people? And really, if people want to gamble, they go to Vegas, or if in the Gulf South, to Mississippi. The reason gambling works so well there, is because ...well, what else is there to do there? Who goes to those places for the music, food or historic architecture? With New Orleans, we have so much to offer, why do we keep whoring ourselves out for the tourist dollar anyway? Shouldn't we start rebuilding by bringing technology or manufacturing companies to the table? Something that could give the city something to be proud of? So many people are leaving because even with Masters Degrees, people were waiting tables to pay their bills. Those are the people who aren't coming back, and why should they? At least until this city starts getting its priorities in order. Well there's one good thing- elections will be soon, and all the crazies will be pleading for our votes. That'll be funny.
The real reason Harriet Miers was nominated for the Supreme Court - not that this should be a surprise to anyone. Huh...no litmus test....remember that Mr. President? If that's true, then I'll assume John Roberts is Pro-Choice. What, no?

In a state by state poll, here are Bush's approval ratings. Make sure to take notice of Texas.
We now learn that the CIA agent/ Plame leak may have come from the Master of Darkness himself, Dick Cheney. Hmmmmm... now the question is: will Mr. President do what he said and fire whoever is responsible, even if its the big, mean Mr. Vice President? Nahhh. Will Cheney resign if the investigation proves he's responsible? I don't think so. Who would be there to make sure Halliburton gets all those no-bid contracts? Somehow Cheney will try to turn it around and blame it on the CIA, or the Democrats, or little puppies.

So Wyeth Pharmaceuticals have come up with a pill which stops a woman's period for a year. No more periods, no more PMS, no more cramps. Only thing though- isn't that kind of creepy in a "Oh no! Suzy's growing testicles!" kind of way? Why don't I see commercials for the pill for men? Is it even out yet? And if not, why not? Oh wait, I think I know: because men run the pharmaceutical companies and have no desire to put something weird like that in their own bodies.

Cool, US Senate Elections 2006 in a nutshell with pictures and all:

I'm home!!! Back in New Orleans! The other residents are slowly returning to the Uptown area too. And we have a gas station! Funny thing is- there are so few people in the area, they don't look that busy. There are fallen trees everywhere, but at least they are no longer blocking the streets. Where I am, we have all the utility services back- except for drinkable water that is. Only problem is -the 6pm-8am curfew. How are businesses supposed to get running again when everyone has to be indoors at 6pm? At least Jefferson Parish's curfew was at 8pm, but 6? Oh well, I'm sure there are many who aren't following the curfew anyway. There are music shows, bars are open in certain locations, people just want to get together the way New Orleanians get together- at night over a drink. I want to go to Molly's.
