Wow, the infamously narrow Huey P. Long Bridge is going to be getting wider soon. Well if you consider 2012 soon, cause that's when it'll be completed. This bridge was completed in 1935 when there weren't as many cars around. There are two 9 foot lanes on each side with the railway in the middle. And I can't imagine driving on that bridge without fear of death. Sometimes when possible, people just drive in the middle of the two lanes. They are widening it 50 feet on each side to make it a 6 lane hwy. I wonder if we'll still feel it shaking when the train is passing. Scary stuff. I once broke down on it, I was freaking out to say the least. The person behind me was kind enough to push me until I was safely off this crazily narrow, shoulderless death trap. I wonder if they planned shoulder lanes too. One can dream.

Huey P. Long is cool and I can't believe they are improving it instead of tearing it down or at least making another bridge, like they did with Crescent City Connection when I was a kid. I guess thats how the politicians will get paid off. As well, did you hear what Nagin said about the City of Philadelphia after they invited him up there to look at their school system? Nagin is such a tactless half wit retard. He needs to step down. I almost think he is worse than Morial at this point.
Somebody is getting rich on this deal. It makes no sense to widen the HP. For the money that it will cost, the time that it will take, etc, we could build a new bridge and divert some of that traffic off Clearview and Bestbank expy. A new bridge needs to be built at Causeway. Something fishy is going on here.
