The grid is a new way of connecting computers together to get the "internet". Most servers use internet information services, which is static (doesn't change) and the grid is somewhat dynamic. It is kind of like fiber optics, I think. The definition of what the internet means will change due to this new concept of grid computing. Fox just did not make this all clear.
Yeah, the headline just seemed really wrong to me- like saying 'airplanes will make transportation obsolete'.
